Alan Hutton shares what was 'incredible' about Skov Olsen in Rangers v Celtic, and not in a good way

Alan Hutton was once again left far from impressed by Rangers winger Andreas Skov Olsen against Celtic in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

Rangers lost 4-2 on penalties at Ibrox after the quarter-final showdown ended goalless.

Danny Rohl made limited changes to his side, with John Souttar and Tochi Chukwuani both dropping to the bench, with the final third staying the same.

Skov Olsen disappointed against Liam Scales, who was playing out of position and booked early, as Rangers messed up another delightful opportunity.

Andreas Skov Olsen struggles dubbed incredible

Hutton was on live commentary for the cup tie, and couldn’t believe his eyes watching Skov Olsen struggle yet again in Govan.

Speaking on the Scottish Football Social Club on Monday, the ex-Rangers defender was not impressed with the marquee winter signing yet again.

“Skov Olsen, for me, I’m sitting watching the game, and I’m thinking you’ve got a centre back, who played really well, playing at left back, and you don’t take him on,” he said.

“That is incredible for me, because what I would be saying to my winger is, every time you get the ball, you take him on, because he doesn’t want to be out there.

“I don’t think he did enough.”

One moment summed up Skov Olsen as Rangers horror continues

Lining up for a second-half corner, Skov Olsen trudged along to take it.

With the pressure rising and the likes of Emmanuel Fernandez in the box, the Danish winger simply passed the ball along the floor to the first man.

That so-called delivery was thumped clear, and the pressure was taken off immediately, something that was inexplicable at the time, especially as a big-money signing.

It simply hasn’t worked out so far, and with a hefty permanent option attached to the loan signing for over £8million, it’s hard to see that being taken.

Skov Olsen would have to be incredible in the right way, either side of the split, and likely fire Rangers to an unlikely Scottish Premiership title for that to happen now.

Rohl and many others still believe, but after dropping points against Motherwell, Livingston and Celtic, as well as crashing out of the cup, he may have blown it.

The German was backed heavily in January, and although he has done sensationally to even get to this stage, it feels as though it has been thrown away when it looked more likely than not.
