Alan Myers shares what he has heard about Everton move for 'phenomenal talent'

Everton have been linked with a move for Arsenal talent Ethan Nwaneri.

Everton were named as a potential destination for Nwaneri, if Mikel Arteta’s side decide to send the England Under-21 international on loan.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit were believed to face competition for his services from Sunderland and Fulham for the 18-year-old.

However, a new update from Alan Myers seems to have poured cold water on a potential switch to Merseyside.

What are Everton’s chances of signing Ethan Nwaneri?

David Moyes needs attacking reinforcements at Everton this month, and Nwaneri would definitely fit the bill.

Myers was asked by a supporter whether there was any truth in the links, and he claimed to have heard nothing about it.

Taking to X to reply to the question on 13 January, he said: “Not heard that.”

If Myers, who is ultra-reliable when it comes to anything related to the Blues, has not heard about it, then it is likely not happening.

Nwaneri is ‘phenomenal talent’, but Everton may be dodging a bullet

Former Liverpool star Stephen Warnock described Nwaneri as a “phenomenal talent” on Sky Sports in February, and the hype surrounding him is even higher now.

Nwaneri has made 12 appearances this season, with one goal in the Carabao Cup clash with Brighton in October.

• Nwaneri has played 51 times for Arsenal
• He has scored 10 goals and notched two assists in those matches
• He has 13 caps for England Under-21’s

However, whether he would be ready to step up and give the Toffees what they need at the moment is another question entirely.

Moyes needs regular goal contributions to ease the burden on Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye, and the evidence so far suggests that the Gunners gem cannot provide that at the moment.

Given that the Scotsman has been unwilling to give Tyler Dibling and Adam Aznou chances, who are both older than Nwaneri, it would probably have not worked out anyway if he had joined on a temporary deal.

It seems as though the Blues have dodged a bullet after what Myers has said, with a deal not likely to happen.
