Arsenal vs AFC Bournemouth ref watch: Three decisions Michael Oliver got wrong, including Viktor Gyokeres incident 

Arsenal suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday as their title ambitions suffered another blow at the Emirates.

The Gunners were no doubt poor, and this was shown when Junior Kroupi put the visitors in front early on.

However, while Viktor Gyokeres was able to pull Arsenal level from the spot, Alex Scott would score the winner in the second period to condemn the hosts to a defeat.

While referee Michael Oliver had a solid game, there were still plenty of contentious decisions he made.

As a result, both teams may feel aggrieved over some incidents in what was a horrendous defeat for Arsenal.

Adrien Truffert lucky not to receive first-half yellow card

When Arsenal were pushing for an equaliser late in the first half, the hosts looked out of ideas.

As a result, when Noni Madueke received the ball on the left flank, he looked to beat Adrien Truffert and run towards the Bournemouth box.

However, the full-back had other ideas and grappled the winger’s shirt to prevent him from bursting away before he performed a late challenge to stop the attack.

While Oliver did give the foul for the shirt pull, a yellow card should have also been awarded for the incident, as it stopped a dangerous attack.

Marcos Senesi unfortunate to concede late first-half free-kick

Madueke proved to be a handful on the left flank. However, he won plenty of contentious free-kicks throughout.

One of the poorest came in the dying seconds of the first-half. With the winger looking to keep hold of the ball, Marcos Senesi came in hoping to steal it away from him.

Moments later, Madueke went down under minimal contact, which gave the hosts a dangerous free-kick and a chance to go ahead.

However, luckily nothing came of the incident, and both teams went into level at the break.

Viktor Gyokeres should not have been booked

Football Insider has exclusively revealed in the past that Gyokeres has been fortunate with referees in the past for Arsenal, and could have been sent off against Chelsea.

However, on Saturday, he was highly unlucky to receive a yellow card against Bournemouth.

With Arsenal once again pushing for an equaliser, Bournemouth looked to break through Marcus Tavernier.

Gyokeres saw this potential chance and used his body to knock the Cherries man off the ball.

However, Oliver was far from impressed with this challenge, and not only awarded the visitors a free-kick, but also gave the Arsenal striker a yellow card.

This was clearly the wrong decision as the challenge was arguably not even a foul, let alone worthy of a yellow card.
