Barry Ferguson shares what he's 'absolutely certain' of for Rangers as fans' plea made vs Celtic
Barry Ferguson has issued a plea to Rangers fans ahead of their Scottish Cup clash with rivals Celtic.
Ibrox was rocking last Sunday after two stunning first-half goals from Youssef Chermiti, as Rangers looked set to end Celtic’s Scottish Premiership title bid.
However, second-half goals from Kieran Tierney and a stoppage-time Reo Hatate penalty ensured Danny Rohl‘s team had to settle for a point, as the positivity sapped out of Ibrox.
Rangers have the chance to get one over on their fierce adversaries when they host Celtic in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals on Sunday, as they try to claim some silverware this season.
Now, ex-Gers manager and player Ferguson has called on Rangers fans to make Ibrox as hostile as possible to spur their team on to victory.

Barry Ferguson outlines what ‘isn’t an option’ against Celtic
Days out from another crunch Old Firm derby, Ferguson wants Rangers fans “bouncing for 90 minutes” because it “isn’t an option” to have a packed Celtic end celebrating on Sunday.
Ferguson admitted he couldn’t have asked for any more in the first 45 minutes of last Sunday’s league clash with Celtic but something was “eating away at him” during the half time break.
He pointed out that no Old Firm team dominates a match for the whole 90 minutes and despite being happy with how Rangers started the second half, a lot went wrong after Tierney’s goal in the 56th minute.
But, if Rangers want to progress to the last four of the competition, Ferguson knows that the home fans will need to be at their best.

He told the Daily Record: “If Rangers can pull it all together again for a more sustained period this time, then I’m absolutely certain they’ll come away from Ibrox with a place in the last four secured.”
Ferguson added: “The place was absolutely bouncing at half time when the team came off the pitch. I’d want to make sure it was like that again on the final whistle – and especially because there will be 7,500 visiting fans at the other end.
“In my mind, there’s just no way they can be the ones celebrating at the end of the game. It’s not even an option.”
Danny Rohl will know he’s under pressure to deliver
When Rohl took over from Rangers last October, the club was in a mess. Russell Martin had just been sacked, with the club languishing down in eighth.
They were a whopping 13 points behind Hearts but over time, the former Sheffield Wednesday boss got Rangers going again, before re-establishing themselves in a title race.
Big wins over Celtic and Hearts in 2026 sparked hopes of a first league title since 2021 but some damaging draws of late have halted that charge.

For instance, they drew at 10-man Motherwell, dropped two points at lowly Livingston, and threw away a two-goal lead against Celtic in recent weeks.
After the Hoops beat Aberdeen on Wednesday, Martin O’Neill’s team have now leapfrogged Rangers into second, with both sides five and six points adrift of leaders Hearts, respectively.
Questions have been raised about this team’s mentality, ability to dig deep and pick up three points when things aren’t going their way. Rohl has done a good job so far but if they lose to Celtic on Sunday, pressure will mount on the German.
