Celtic player ratings vs St Mirren – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 8/10, Tomas Cvancara awful
Celtic picked up a narrow 1-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday to remain in the Scottish Premiership title race.
After a dominant start, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put the hosts in front with an angled finish.
While Celtic pushed for second before half-time, they simply could not get the ball into the back of the net again.
St Mirren came into the second period on top, but Martin O’Neill’s side quickly calmed the storm before comfortably seeing out the victory.
As a result, Celtic have kept up with Heart of Midlothian in this intense Scottish Premiership title race.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain star of the show vs St Mirren
Plenty has been said about Oxlade-Chamberlain since his move to Celtic.
Despite a bright debut, he has struggled to showcase his quality consistently.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s stats vs St Mirren Minutes 73 Goals 1 xG 0.33 Chances created 2 Passing accuracy 94% Ground duels won 60%
However, against St Mirren, he was excellent and provided a threat throughout.
In the first half, his performance was rewarded with a goal as he slammed the ball into the net to give Celtic the opener.
From here, the former England international continued to dominate the midfield until he was taken off late in the game.
Tomas Cvancara underperforms for Celtic yet again
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic are chasing a striker in the summer transfer window, and this will come as no surprise after Saturday’s display.
While Tomas Cvancara is only on loan at the Hoops, the club does have an option to buy, something that surely cannot happen if these displays continue.
Once again, the striker was blunt and struggled to remain a threat against St Mirren.

When Celtic were well on top in the first half, Cvancara had some great opportunities to pull the hosts clear. However, each time he blundered.
Therefore, it was no surprise when O’Neill pulled him off the field, in what was another disappointing performance.
It remains to be seen if Cvancara is ever able to hit form at Celtic as they close in on the final matches of the season, still well in the title race.
