Celtic want to sign forward loved by Robbie Keane, £2.5m bid lined up
Celtic are reportedly interested in a move for NK Celje forward Franko Kovacevic, as they look to bolster Martin O’Neill’s squad.
O’Neill is keen to bring in a striker this month, and Celtic have looked to re-sign Kyogo Furuhashi, but that deal no longer looks likely.
Football Insider revealed that Birmingham City are keen to keep Kyogo at St Andrews’ in January after he scored against Cambridge in the FA Cup.
But goals have clearly been an issue for the Bhoys, and decision-makers at Parkhead will not settle without a new goal-scorer.
Celtic have also been linked to Kieron Bowie, although plenty of clubs are thought to be considering a move for the Hibernian striker.

Celtic to make move for Franko Kovacevic
Kovacevic, 26, has scored 25 goals in 28 games across all competitions this season, with several of those coming in European competition.
The striker was a Croatia youth international, but has yet to make his debut for the first team.
According to Izak Ante Sucic, Celtic are interested in a move for Kovacevic, but the seriousness of their interest is not yet clear.
Robbie Keane-managed Ferencvaros are also highly interested in the striker, and have expressed their willingness to offer around £2.6million.
What Kovacevic has said will impress Celtic fans
Kovacevic’s goal record cannot possibly be argued with. The 26-year-old has been dominant in the Prva Liga, and he has been on fire in Europe, too.
The striker scored four goals in four Europa League qualifiers, and then scored three goals in three Conference League qualifiers.
Once his team were qualified for the latter competition, Kovacevic netted five goals in their first two games.
Speaking in October, he told Net Hr: “It sounds a little unreal now, but I work every day, I believe in myself and I want to score even more. I’m not satisfied with what was, what was, that’s in the past, just focus on the next game.”
Celtic will hope, should they manage to sign him, that mentality will follow him to Celtic Park and the Scottish Premiership.
