Championship relegation looks an increasingly likelier prospect for Leicester City this season after their failure to beat League One-bound Sheffield Wednesday.

Jordan Ayew rescued a point for the Foxes at Hillsborough on Easter Monday with a 1-1 draw after Jerry Yates’ early opener.

Leicester have now won one of their last 16 games across all competitions, and remain in the second-tier relegation zone with just five matches left to save themselves from the drop.

Portsmouth remained one point ahead of Gary Rowett’s side in 21st place following their 2-2 draw with 23rd-placed Oxford United.

West Brom and Blackburn Rovers played out a goalless draw to stay three and six points clear of the drop respectively, with Leicester now more likely to be relegated than they were on Good Friday, according to Opta.

They are now given an expected total of 47.61, with Pompey’s tally dropping a lot less to 48.58 points, while Oxford are expected to join the Foxes in League One next season.

Leicester are currently given a 57.3 per cent chance of being relegated after failing to beat a stricken Wednesday side, with Portsmouth handed a 52.74 per cent chance.

Dropping into League One could be catastrophic from a financial point of view, especially after sources told Football Insider that Leicester have breached PSR again as per their latest accounts.

West Brom are backed to stay up, with a 13.96 per cent chance of relegation as it stands, while Blackburn are seen to be already nearly out of trouble, as Opta give them a slimmer 8.68 per cent chance.

Opta believe that Coventry have effectively already sealed promotion, as they are handed a 100 per cent chance of playing Premier League football next term.

Ipswich are being backed to join them in second place after their 2-1 win against Birmingham, with a 61.58 per cent chance compared to Middlesbrough’s 22.92 following their 2-2 draw with Swansea.

Southampton are predicted to join Boro, Millwall and Hull in the playoffs as it stands, with a 70.22 per cent chance to Wrexham’s 41.3 and Derby’s 12.64 per cent chances respectively.
