Chelsea fans blast ‘clown’ Liam Rosenior for Mamadou Sarr right-back experiment – ‘Horrendous decision’

Chelsea fans have laid into Liam Rosenior for playing Mamadou Sarr at right-back in their Champions League loss to PSG.

Rosenior has come under increasing pressure at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks due to Chelsea’s lack of form in numerous competitions.

They are out of the EFL Cup and are in danger of missing out on the Premier League top five, while their Champions League progression hopes suffered a huge blow with a 5-2 loss to PSG last week.

Luis Enrique’s side showed no mercy in the second leg of their round of 16 tie on Wednesday, as they emerged 3-0 victors at Stamford Bridge to send the Blues crashing out with aplomb.

Sarr started the game in surprising position and was quickly found out, with fans urging Rosenior to forget about the experiment for Chelsea’s next match against Everton.

Reports emerged on Monday that Chelsea club captain Reece James had suffered a hamstring injury that is set to keep him out for several weeks.

Malo Gusto was taken ill in the days leading up to the PSG match, and so Rosenior decided to start centre-back Sarr on the right of his back four for the first time since his arrival from Strasbourg.

Sarr’s error led to Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s early opener, as he failed to deal with a long ball forward and let the Georgian run in on goal to score.

The 20-year-old looked completely out of his depth at right-back, as it is not his position, and was unsurprisingly taken off at half time to be replaced by Josh Acheampong.

Taking to X to react to Rosenior’s decision, one fan wrote: “Can’t comprehend how he’s put Sarr at right back out to dry. Absolute insane stuff. He’s not lasting the season.”

While another said: “Hato playing central defender when it isn’t his position and Sarr playing RB when he is a central defender is a crime! Worst manager we ever had! Get this guy out of the club now!”

And one added: “Playing Sarr at RB is criminal. Liam Rosenior has to go by the morning—this is unacceptable.”

Rosenior is already under real pressure at Chelsea after nature of UCL exit

Chelsea supporters knew they were facing a tough task to beat the reigning UCL champions over two legs, but still would not have expected their team to lose in the way they did.

Football Insider have revealed that Chelsea expect to be busy in the summer window, but recent reports claim that Rosenior is closer to the sack than many realise.

They now only have the FA Cup to play for in terms of silverware this season, while the weekend’s defeat to Newcastle has left Chelsea sixth in the Premier League ahead of a tough run of games against Everton, Man City and Man United.

Chelsea fans have fumed at some of his baffling decisions before, and Rosenior is now under real pressure to make things right, or he could well be relieved of his duties soon.
