Chelsea fans tear into ‘horrid’ player who was ‘completely anonymous’ vs Pafos: ‘Send him out of this club’

Chelsea survived a huge scare as they scored late to beat Pafos 1-0 on Wednesday night.

The Blues desperately needed three points to boost their hopes of qualifying for the next phase of the Champions League, but they were made to sweat by their unfancied Cypriot visitors.

Chelsea fans have been critical of Moises Caicedo at times this season, but the Ecuadorian was on hand to nod home the winner and spare his team from a frustrating result in European action.

Liam Rosenior’s side struggled to break down their well-organised visitors for much of the 90 minutes, and that prompted plenty of frustration from fans during the game.

Rosenior worked with Liam Delap during his time at Hull City, leaving many people expecting to see the striker take on a more important role under the new boss.

The 22-year-old has started just eight games in the Premier League so far this season, but he was in from the start against Pafos in midweek.

However, the youngster had a difficult night at Stamford Bridge, as he failed to get a single shot away during the game, and had just 12 touches across the entire 70 minutes that he was on the pitch.

Delap has managed just three goals for Chelsea since his £30million arrival from Ipswich Town in the summer, and fans have begun to lose patience with the forward.

Supporters took to X to show their frustrations towards Delap on Wednesday night, as one wrote that he “offers absolutely nothing” to the team, while another demanded that he be “sent out of the club.”

Another fan labelled Delap as “another waste of money” while there was also a suggestion that he is “useless” and makes no runs for his teammates.

Enzo Fernandez at his brilliant best vs Pafos

Enzo Fernandez proved his worth for Chelsea yet again on Wednesday night, as he was at the heart of everything good about their performance in the win over Pafos.

The Argentine covered every blade of grass at Stamford Bridge, as he combined an excellent ability to break up the play with his typical silky quality on the ball.

Fernandez created two chances for his teammates throughout the game, and even saw a goal ruled out when he was penalised for a foul in the build-up to his header.

Rosenior will be heavily reliant on consistent performances from the spine of his team while he continues to bed in his system in West London, and Fernandez is undoubtedly one of Chelsea’s star performers.

He and Caicedo dragged their team through despite some difficult moments against Pafos, and they were full value for the praise that they have received.
