Confirmed: Everton agree contract terms with player who was in squad last weekend

Everton may be hard at work in bringing in some new players this window, but that is not to say players already within the club are being overlooked.

The Toffees have used the opening month of 2026 to agree terms with exciting talents of the future – and indeed the present in some cases.

Amari Moses last week put pen to paper with Everton, as the academy midfielder committed to the Merseyside club until 2028.

And Everton have now confirmed an agreement has been struck with Malik Olayiwola, with full details being shared.

Malik Olayiwola signs Everton contract – but who is he?

Supporters are desperate to see first-team ready players brought in, with Youssef En-Nesyri the latest to be linked with Everton.

Players are also heading for the exit, with Harry Tyrer close to joining Cardiff City permanently, but it is good to see Everton also focus on business at a lower level.

As confirmed via the club’s official website on Wednesday, Olayiwola has signed his first professional contract with Everton.

The teenager turned 17 last week, making him eligible to commit, with 12 of those years spent on Everton’s books.

Olayiwola was part of the matchday squad for Everton’s FA Cup defeat to Sunderland at Hill Dickinson Stadium last weekend, though he did not make his senior debut.

The teenage midfielder has also represented England at various age-grade levels up to and including the Under-17s.

And while Olayiwola will continue with the academy side at Finch Farm for a bit longer yet, the youngster is buzzing to have put pen to paper after an exciting week.

“That was surreal,” Olayiwola said of being part of the senior squad last week. “Being around so many people you watch on TV, warming up and being in the same environment as them was crazy.

“I take a lot of confidence knowing I was called up to be with them, so I’ve gone into this week – with my own age group – to perform.”

Olayiwola has four goals and three assists in eight league appearances this season.

Which other Everton players are shining for Under-18s?

Olayiwola has clearly caught the eye for Everton U18s, so much so that he earned his senior call-up last week.

Others are also starring, such as centre-forward Ray Robert, as he leads the way with six goals this season.

Ceiran Loney has give goals, meanwhile, and Kean Wren can match Olayiwola’s tally of four goals.

Everton have seen a number of brilliant talents come through the ranks down the years, and it looks like there is another batch of very exciting talents now breaking through.
