Director rages about agent leaks in middle of game as Rangers reportedly push for last-gasp signing

Rangers are pushing hard to sign a new striker before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Danny Rohl has been backed heavily by Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers, with Andreas Skov Olsen the marquee arrival of three so far.

Rangers have now bid £3.1million to sign Ryan Naderi from Hansa Rostock, a second offer already, but the German is no closer to Ibrox.

With the deadline quickly arriving, Cameron Archer is a prime target from Southampton, but it remains to be seen which number nine will arrive in Govan.

Ryan Naderi agent talk creates drama in Germany

Rangers pursued interest of Naderi, and the media attention around it is clearly getting to some, however.

Speaking at half-time of Hansa Rostock’s 3-0 defeat against FC Ingolstadt on Saturday, Sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh was far from happy, noting agent leaks specifically in the market.

“This is a topic that doesn’t interest me at all right now,” he said via Revier Sport.

We’ve already addressed it several times. Every day, you read about which clubs are supposedly interested and what the boy is supposedly thinking.

There are always figures being thrown around.

We’ve asked that the boy simply be allowed to play football. We’re also aware that agents sometimes leak information to the media to create unrest and pressure.

Who should Rangers sign?

With Archer and Naderi both Rangers targets, only one of those should arrive.

Right now, Archer is looking more likely to sign, with the anger around Hansa Rostock and Naderi bubbling to the surface over in Germany.

The England youth international could arrive on loan initially, which could leave the door slightly ajar for the German to sign in the future, but only time will tell.

Looking at the stats via Sofascore, Naderi scores more goals, but he is in a so-called inferior division, being in the third tier.

Naderi attempts more shots on goal per game as well as completing more successful dribbles.

The biggest difference between the pair is their work on and around the ball, with Naderi winning more than five duels compared to Archer per game, at 6.94.

On top of that, the German also links play better, completing over 10 passes per game, compared to Archer’s 6.78 at Southampton.

Of course, the numbers don’t tell the whole story, but given the stats on top of Naderi having that German link to Rohl, it may be worth pushing the boat out even further to get a deal done with Hansa Rostock.

Shapourzadeh may not be happy, but that’s modern football for you.
