Eddie Howe wants Dominic Solanke at Newcastle with Tottenham transfer on
Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke is reportedly a transfer target for Newcastle United.
Solanke has scored five goals from his 14 appearances during an injury-hit campaign, largely watching on from a distance during Spurs’ fight against relegation.
Igor Tudor‘s side now find themselves just a point above the drop zone after losing all three of his games in charge, and a sweeping overhaul of the squad is looming in the summer.
That could see a host of big names leave, and Solanke has been linked with a move away.
Eddie Howe wants Dominic Solanke reunion
According to the Daily Mail, Eddie Howe is keen on reuniting with his former Bournemouth striker at St James’ Park. However, much depends on Spurs’ top-flight status.
The frontman remains at the heart of Tottenham‘s plans, having proven himself in the Premier League for several years, but will attract no shortage of attention.
Despite playing just 714 minutes in total this campaign, having been forced to undergo ankle surgery back in August, he is back fit and firing, and will be crucial in Spurs’ relegation fight.
Regardless of whether they do fall into the Championship, Tottenham are unlikely to be willing to let him go, especially for anything less than the £65million they splashed on him.
But they may have little choice. In the event of the worst-case scenario, their superstars would be ripe for the picking, and Solanke would surely also want to jump ship.
For now, he is fully focused on Spurs’ scrap for survival, and took part in honest dressing room discussions following the dismal 3-1 defeat by Crystal Palace last time out.
Solanke tells Tottenham there are no excuses
Solanke had opened the scoring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night, but was helpless as the floodgates opened after Micky van de Ven’s clumsy sending-off.
Tudor has openly criticised the effort and desire of his players, while supporters have been similarly irritated by a string of uninspired displays that have left them on the brink.
But Solanke has insisted that his team-mates are aware of the magnitude of the situation.
“We’ve just had a big conversation,” he told reporters in mid-week.

“We know the position we are in is definitely not where we want to be, so we need to figure out how we are going to get out of it as soon as possible.
“We know there’ve been difficulties, but we’re not in a position to make excuses anymore.
“We need to do the job on the pitch, and I think it is easy to say that we want to be better, but we need to make sure we are better on the pitch.”
Let’s hope that Solanke’s rallying cry is heeded – before it’s too late.
