Elite club adviser accuses Liverpool stars of not fighting for Arne Slot amid 'unusual' fan reaction
Liverpool players have a lack of desire to fight for manager Arne Slot, according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness.
Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has questioned the commitment of the Liverpool players, with Slot facing the sack at Anfield.
Liverpool have lost back-to-back games under Slot, including a 4-0 defeat at Manchester City to end their hopes of winning the FA Cup.
The Reds face a challenge clinging onto a top five spot in the Premier League, whilst the Champions League remains their only chance of winning silverware this season.
Liverpool are expected to sack Slot at the end of the campaign, with the fanbase pushing for the Dutchman to depart.

Liverpool players have ‘given up’ on Arne Slot
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Liverpool fans leaving early at Man City was “unusual.”
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks that the players downing tools in matches has happened too often this season.
Games Managed 48 Games Won 25 Games Drawn 7 Games Lost 16 Goals Scored 90 Goals Conceded 66
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It does feel that there’s a lack of motivation. The players aren’t clicking.
“They’re not fighting. I heard one of the commentators say quite accurately at the weekend [vs Man City] why aren’t there three or four yellow cards for the Liverpool players?
“Why aren’t people fighting? Why aren’t they pushing hard? And they weren’t. They did look as though they’d given up. That’s got to come from motivation within the squad, and this is just not a one-off. It’s been happening a lot recently.
“The number of games Liverpool have lost, they’ve never lost so many for such a long time in so many seasons. It’s got a lot to do with Arne Slot and the grumblings are there.
“It’s a very unhappy camp. To see the Liverpool fans walking out of the Etihad so early, it is really unusual for Liverpool fans. So, there are big issues and storm clouds gathering.”
Who is to blame at Liverpool as Slot sack looms?
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown, speaking to Football Insider, claimed that Slot has been thrown under the bus at Liverpool by his key players.
Brown believes captain Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have both not lived up to expectations this season, and need to take their share of the blame if Slot is sacked.
Salah has already confirmed he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, and his relationship with Slot has been a talking point since strong comments he made against the Dutchman after a match at Leeds in December.
Van Dijk is set to remain at the club next season, with the 34-year-old likely to be working under his third manager on Merseyside.
