Everton handed fresh Europe motivation as UEFA set for revenue milestone - report

Everton have been given new impetuous to qualify for European football, as UEFA are reportedly set to reach the €1billion revenue mark from next year.

David Moyes‘ side are on the cusp of qualifying for their first European campaign since 2017-18 this season, which could shower the Toffees with wealth.

Sitting eighth with just six games to play, the race for continental football is really starting to hot up in the Premier League, as only six points separate Chelsea in sixth and Newcastle down in 14th respectively.

But, Everton are poised to strike in these final weeks of the season, and would go an awfully long way to achieving this goal with a win in the Merseyside derby this Sunday.

Everton’s finances look to be in a very healthy state based off their recent accounts, but The Friedkin Group won’t be resting on their laurels in this regard either, as extra revenue streams are always a bonus.

How Everton can benefit from UEFA €1bn revenue increase

Everton are currently predicted to finish seventh in the Premier League this season, which would be enough to guarantee them a place in Europe next term.

Toffees supporters probably won’t be fussy when it comes to which competition that would see them enter, as European football of any kind has long been missed in the blue half of Merseyside.

Champions League clubs74%
Europa League clubs17%
Conference League clubs9%

And, according to a report from The Guardian on Tuesday, UEFA’s club competitions are only set to be showered with more wealth from next year onwards.

The report states that UEFA is preparing to bring in over €1bn/£870m per year in commercial revenues for their club competitions, with two additional global sponsorship deals on the verge of being signed.

It’s claimed this would see sponsorship income rise by an additional 40 per cent, and would take UEFA’s annual earnings over €6bn, which is an increase from €4.4bn.

UEFA allocates 74 per cent of it’s prize fund and 56 per cent of its club competition revenue to Champions League sides, with 17 per cent handed out to Europa League clubs and nine per cent to Conference League teams respectively.

Therefore, it’s clear that Champions League clubs would stand to benefit from this revenue increase the most, but teams from their other two competitions are also in line for significant prize money boosts too.

Everton can’t start counting their European prize money yet

So, it’s clear that if there was ever a time for a football club to break into UEFA’s club competitions, it would be over these coming years.

As such, it does have the feeling of everything starting to come together for Everton, what with the Hill Dickinson Stadium move, the return of Moyes and a team that is now competing at the top-end of the table again.

However, everyone inside the football club must keep their feet on the ground, and certainly can’t begin to count their European winnings yet, as there is still work to do on the pitch this season.

But, if the Toffees can just keep their heads down, stay calm and keep doing what they’ve been doing, then there coffers are set to be significantly boosted next season thanks to this reported UEFA revenue jump.
