Everton still in for player Bonucci raved about, he's not happy right now - report

Everton reportedly remain interested in signing Federico Gatti as the defender grows even more unhappy at Juventus.

Gatti, on Juve’s books since 2022, has been touted as a target for the Toffees for a number of months now.

Juventus are ready to sell the centre-back this summer, but Everton will not be alone in showing an interest.

Other teams from England, including Fulham and Crystal Palace, also have Gatti on their transfer radars.

And a new update has now emerged from Italy ahead of the summer transfer window opening next month.

How much do Juventus want for Federico Gatti?

Gatti has featured 18 times for Juventus in Serie A this season, and 25 times in all competitions, but starts have been hard to come by lately.

Tuttosport report on Wednesday that Gatti is not happy at his lack of opportunities under Luciano Spalletti.

Gatti does not want to spend another season as a fringe player, while Juve also see him as a player they can raise money for.

A previous report suggested Juventus want £21.6million for Gatti, which would certainly be in Everton’s price range.

Napoli and Milan are also credited with an interest in the 27-year-old, who would have been in World Cup contention for Italy had they qualified for the tournament.

What have Leonardo Bonucci and others said about Gatti?

Legendary defender Leonardo Bonucci is certainly a fan of Gatti’s – or at least was – as he previously said of the defender: “Gatti has hunger. That’s something you either have or you don’t – and he has a lot of it.”

Fabio Capello, meanwhile, was once quoted as saying: “Gatti is a real defender – he defends first, with determination and courage.”

It appears Gatti had plenty of admirers and he still features regularly for a heavyweight club in Juventus, albeit not as much as he would like.

He is also at a good age, just about entering his peak years, and he has eight senior caps for Italy to his name.

On top of that, he is available for what is a reasonable price all things considered in the current transfer market.

If David Moyes is after a continental defender to slot in at the back alongside a fit Jarrad Branthwaite, Gatti certainly sounds like an exciting option to pursue.
