Jens Hjerto-Dahl has emerged as a late transfer target for Everton.

Everton need to sign a striker above anything else in the final days of the transfer window, having recently been linked with a move to bring Jhon Duran to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, the Toffees can’t pass up on the chance to bolster other areas of their squad, and that also includes their midfield.

The return of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is certainly timely, though David Moyes is still eying another addition in that area of the squad, with Dahl the latest to be linked.

In terms of actual depth and the quality of it, Everton‘s midfield is arguably the strongest aspect of their squad.

James Garner has had a phenomenal season, while the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Dewsbury-Hall have also shown their quality.

However, there is still room for improvement, and that is what has led Everton to join the race to sign Dahl.

A report from Marco Conterio outlines the interest from the Toffees, but also reiterates Dahl’s preference to make the move to Besiktas, and in fact, that is the only move he wants.

The Turkish side are yet to strike an agreement with Tromso for his transfer, with several other Premier League clubs also keeping track of his situation.

Dahl was the winner of the Eliteserien Young Player of the Month award on three occasions in 2025, sparking plenty of interest across Europe.

Everton exit could depend on Dahl whereabouts

While it is true to say that Everton have sufficient depth in midfield, that could change in the final days of the window.

Tim Iroegbunam has been linked with an exit from the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Lazio said to be keen on a deal.

On top of that, the future of Harrison Armstrong also remains unknown after his loan spell at Preston was cancelled due to the injury situation that the Toffees were faced with earlier in the month.

Paul Heckingbottom has previously said that he expects Armstrong to return.

As of right now, it’s hard to see the Toffees pushing too hard with their interest in a new midfielder, but that could change if either of the above are to leave.
