Everything we know about Mohamed Diomande's Rangers contract situation amid injury lay-off
Mohamed Diomande is currently facing a spell on the sidelines at Rangers.
The 24-year-old has been a regular in the middle of the park at Ibrox ever since coming through the doors from Nordsjaelland in 2024.
He hasn’t been particularly spectacular in that time, but has shown some flashes of the player he could be for the Light Blues.
Danny Rohl has continued to utilise him since coming in, but an injury suffered against Celtic has brought his season crashing down.
Diomande went off in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup Old Firm clash, and now Ibrox News has assessed what we know about his current contract.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
What is Mohamed Diomande’s contract situation at Rangers?
The Ivory Coast international hasn’t made an appearance for the Light Blues since early March due to his shoulder injury.
Rohl’s side have since sealed two victories and are looking ahead to upcoming outings against Dundee United and Falkirk.
Date Fixture Result Competition 08/03/26 Celtic (H) 0-0 (D) Scottish Gas Scottish Cup 15/03/26 St Mirren (A) 0-1 (W) Scottish Premiership 21/03/26 Aberdeen (H) 4-1 (W) Scottish Premiership 04/04/26 Dundee United (H) N/A Scottish Premiership 12/04/26 Falkirk (A) N/A Scottish Premiership
Ideally, the Gers would like to have the midfielder available, but that isn’t possible at this stage of the campaign.
The boost surrounding Diomande will come from his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2028, after he signed in 2024.

The Ivorian is currently on a reported salary of £11,000 per week, which ranks him below the likes of Thelo Aasgaard and Conor Barron.
That equates to a yearly wage in the region of £570,000, which is a sizable amount for someone who can’t play, so getting Diomande back from injury will be important at Rangers.
When could Diomande return from shoulder injury?
Early scans after the penalty shootout defeat to Celtic provided somewhat encouraging signs compared to initial fears.
There was a scare that Diomande could miss the rest of the campaign, but there is hope that he could now be on his way back.

The international break could mark the final weeks of the midfielder’s recovery, with him set to return against Dundee United or Falkirk.
That could certainly represent a boost, but if that isn’t possible, Rohl could be forced to wait until the post-split fixtures to utilise the Ivorian at Ibrox.
