Ex-EFC employee: Everton star's exit 'on the cards' after 'training ground disputes'
Nathan Patterson could get his career back on track with a move away from Everton in the January transfer window.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid interest from Sevilla in the 24-year-old.
Patterson started just his fourth Premier League game of the season in Everton’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa, with injuries hampering his career on Merseyside so far.
Rangers are unlikely to pursue a move to re-sign Patterson, with the Scotland international perhaps instead joining Sevilla in January.
Nathan Patterson backed to ‘revitalise’ himself at Sevilla
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks a move could be good for Patterson amid the club’s interest in signing a new right-back in January.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has heard of “disputes” regarding Patterson.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, look, I also had great hopes for Nathan Patterson. I’d seen him perform so well in a Scotland shirt, and then he’s had some injuries.
“He’s had some managers that haven’t quite believed in him totally. I know there’s been a couple of disputes apparently in training, and on different pre-season tours. But still, I think he’s got some talent there and there’s a player there. But I do think a break to Sevilla may work.
“Now, you tie that in together with the last player we spoke about coming from Belgium. It would make sense to get that slot off the wages, and go down to Sevilla on loan, possibly, because I think Nathan has still got some big value if he has a good season in Spain. I think the Spanish game would suit him very well.
“I think it’ll do well for Scotland if he plays in Spain before the World Cup as well. So I could see that being a sensible move, bringing in the younger right back and giving Patterson a chance to revitalise himself in Spain. So I think both those moves could be very much on the cards.”

Everton line up defensive duo
Everton’s search for a new right-back could take them to Belgium, where they and Crystal Palace hold an interest in Zakaria El Ouahdi.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a top target for the Toffees, who can also play as a wing-back or as a winger if required.
David Moyes is also keeping tabs on John Stones, who could join Everton if he becomes available on a free transfer in the summer.
