Ex-Everton CEO: There's mileage to reports David Moyes wants to sign this PL star

Everton could make a summer swoop to sign Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The Toffees are in the race to secure European qualification this campaign after a massive turnaround since David Moyes’ return.

A spot in the UEFA Conference League could spark widespread changes at Hill Dickinson Stadium once the transfer window opens.

The Friedkins could make funds available on Merseyside, with various targets already assessed, with eight Premier League games remaining this season.

Lewis-Skelly has been linked with an Everton move and could be one name on their way to L4 in the coming months.

Mikel Arteta links to help Everton sign Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal

It was only 12 months ago that the 19-year-old was seen as one of the brightest talents and best full-backs in the entire division.

That saw the Arsenal youngster feature across 39 games at the Emirates, while becoming a full England international.

Bizarrely, the teenager has since become a bit-part player under Mikel Arteta and has made just one Premier League start this campaign.

A move away from North London could now be on the cards, with former Everton CEO mooting a switch to Merseyside due to positive links between the Arsenal boss and Moyes.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Wyness said: “Yeah, this is one that I do think has got some credence.

“I think there may be some mileage to this. I think his age is right. I think his experience to date is right, and I think he’d benefit very well with Moyes.

“I think that this is also the connection between Moyes and Arteta, which may well come to fruition on this one.

“I believe that there is some mileage to this one. So yes, I would keep a close eye on it.”

A move for Lewis-Skelly has been backed at Everton, and it feels clear that he could prove to be a true asset for the Blues.

Lewis-Skelly could excel after Everton transfer

This season may be one to forget for the youngster, but a move to pick up regular minutes could be necessary to return to his best.

Everton could seek to benefit from that, with the Toffees almost certainly being able to offer gametime at left-back or even in central midfield.

Lewis-Skelly has put up massively encouraging numbers when given the chance after maintaining an average of 93.6 per cent pass accuracy last season at Arsenal.

He also created 0.53 chances, completed 0.79 dribbles and swung in 0.26 successful crosses per 90.

His defensive output was also positive, as he averaged 6.04 duel wins, 1.45 tackles and 0.46 interceptions per game, something which would rise at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

If the Toffees can get a deal over the line, Lewis-Skelly could prove to be a superb piece of business.
