Ex-Everton employee: I know David Moyes, he will table contract offer to Everton star by Sunday

Everton could have a new deal for James Garner wrapped up this week.

Garner is out of contract at Everton in the summer and could depart for free at the end of the season if an agreement can’t be reached.

Manchester United have shown interest in Garner and the potential of bringing him back to Old Trafford in January.

The Englishman has become integral to David Moyes’ side in recent weeks, and as a result, Everton want to tie Garner down to a new deal.

The Toffees have a decision to make over his future, with Garner potentially set to review an offer within a matter of days at the Hill Dickinson Stadium

David Moyes already in talks over James Garner contract extension

The midfielder was sensational as Everton secured a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, prompting further questions over his contract situation.

Losing a player like the 24-year-old on a free transfer could be catastrophic for the Toffees at this stage due to the lack of an alternative.

There will be hope that the ex-Man United man will pen a new deal, but there has been varying reports over his future on Merseyside.

Former scout Bryan King previously worked alongside Moyes in L4 and has used that understanding to suggest an offer could be tabled to Garner by Sunday.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “I would imagine that they’ve already been talking to him.

If I know Moyesy, I would imagine that those things are in motion already. A proposition for him and his agent will be there by the end of this week.

He won’t leave Everton in January, guaranteed, new contract or not. If he doesn’t sign a new contract, he’ll be there until June anyway, simple as that.

I think Moyes has shown what he can do for his game, and he’s obviously happy at Everton.

If the boy is a man of his word, he’ll be at Everton for the next couple of years.

Garner could cement Everton future within days

Garner proved against Forest just how superb he can be for the Blues when given the opportunity to play in his natural position.

The man signed by Frank Lampard as a central midfielder has regularly operated at full-back throughout his time on Merseyside.

With Idrissa Gueye missing due to AFCON and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the Englishman has been afforded time where he likes to operate most.

That paid dividends against Forest and could prove to be a major catalyst in him penning a new contract on Merseyside in the coming days or weeks.
