Ex-scout: ENIC use deflection tactic to cover real aim as true problem revealed at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur could face a new low in their free fall if the Lewis family look to sell the club.

The Lilywhites are seriously struggling right now and are looking increasingly likely to be relegated from the Premier League.

West Ham and Nottingham Forest are looking up, while Spurs are becoming more of a laughing stock under Igor Tudor.

The Croatian is yet to oversee a win, but bigger changes could be afoot before he has the chance to do so at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Joe Lewis and Co. could look to sell Tottenham, even after suggestions of an increased transfer spend in North London.

ENIC overhaul reports hiding Tottenham sale hopes

There is little reason for positivity in N17 right now, with the prospect of relegation already set in many fans’ minds.

The Lewis family have looked to distract from the failings as reports suggest that the wage structure could be overhauled in the summer to help improve the squad.

Former scout Bryan King believes this is being done as a way to hide ENIC’s true desire to sell the club for a fortune at the end of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “It seems like they want a deflection tactic to sell the club.

“The wage structure isn’t as much of a problem as the recruitment and the quality of players they are bringing in.

“It all comes with the staff that they’ve brought in over the last 10 years.

“The Lewis family won’t jump ship now, but there is enough talk about the club being sold in the summer.

“Whoever buys it is going to pay a lot of money, that’s for sure.”

Tottenham already have a blatant financial issue staring them in the face, so further changes at the top level are unlikely to help matters.

Why do Tottenham need a wage structure change?

There has long been a frustration that the Lilywhites don’t pay high enough wages to attract big-name stars ahead of Premier League rivals.

Spurs’ wage bill is reportedly lower than that of any other member of the so-called “big six”, and that has certainly shown in the past two seasons.

Conor Gallagher came in to land £200,000-per-week as the first to break the mould in N17, something which could continue moving into the new season.

That may not be the case for ENIC if they decide that they want to sell up and hunt for new owners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It will be interesting to see how the summer plays out, especially if the North Londoners face a drop into the Championship.
