“Excited” – Everything Ngenge said after swapping Remo Stars for Leeds United
Leeds United announced the signing of Super Eagles and Remo Stars defender Leonard Ngenge, yesterday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 18-year-old made a big leap to join the Premier League side just six months after joining Remo Stars from Ikorodu City FC.
Ngege played for the Super Eagles B team at the CHAN 2024 tournament and has now penned a one-year deal with the three-time English Champions.
Typically a centre-back, Ngenge can feature as a left-back. He'll join up with The Peacock's U-21 team, perfecting his craft before getting into the first team.

Ngenge's first words as a Leeds United player
The teenager labelled his move to Leeds as the biggest of his career so far, and hopes good things come his way during his time in England.
“I am excited, it is a big step for me,” Ngenge said in quotes revealed by Leeds Official website.

“It is the biggest step of my career right now, and I hope to start perfectly. It is a huge opportunity, and hopefully, I get to utilise my opportunity and do better for the club, represent the club and be part of the great things they set out to achieve.
“Leeds is a great club. I know they have got tons of history, and I heard about some players like Tony Yeboah from Ghana who scored lots of goals, so I know they are a good club.
Quizzed on what he would describe as some of his best attributes as a defender, Ngenge said;
“I am left-footed, I like to show my tackling abilities, getting the body in the way and doing everything to cover the goalkeeper.
“I worked hard. The coaches pushed me back home. It was a great part of that. I learned a lot down there,” the defender concluded, reflecting on his CHAN 2024 outing with the local Super Eagles players.

Ngenge is the third Nigerian international to join Leeds United, after Enoch Showunmi in 2008 and Sam Sodje in 2009.
