Exclusive: Newcastle ready to advance midfielder deal amid new exit concerns

Newcastle United will continue to track Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara to ensure that they are ready to pounce on a potential deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies have had scouts watching the 22-year-old in Ligue 1 in recent weeks, and it is understood that he is somebody who “ticks a lot of boxes” for their recruitment team.

The Tynesiders are facing uncertainty surrounding several of their midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window, and sources say that they are already lining up Camara as a potential replacement for any outgoing stars.

Newcastle’s transfer plans do not entertain the idea of selling any of their key players, but if pressure from other clubs begins to tell, then they are ready to move towards a deal for Camara.

Newcastle face exit fears over midfield trio

Newcastle have not taken any steps to advance their interest in Camara at the moment, but they are prepared to take things to the next level if they lose a key member of their squad this summer.

The Monaco starlet has already been identified as a player who has all the attributes to succeed in a Premier League midfield, and his services may ultimately end up being called upon at St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe and Co. are currently facing significant fears over a potential departure for influential Italian Sandro Tonali ahead of next season, while club captain Bruno Guimaraes has also been the subject of interest from Manchester United.

Joe Willock could also be offloaded, and the Magpies are already not blessed with a wealth of options in the middle of the park.

Camara is being lined up as a long-term candidate to come in and take up a spot in the midfield, but at the moment, it only looks likely that a deal will be done if replacements need to be sourced.

Magpies concerned about Alexander Isak repeat

Football Insider recently revealed that Newcastle are doing everything they can to keep Bruno Guimaraes this summer, and ward off the sustained interest from Man United.

The Brazilian has become an integral part of Howe’s plans in the North East, and that has left them desperate to try and keep hold of him to spearhead their project for the coming years.

The former Lyon man is under contract at St James’ until the summer of 2028, but Newcastle are beginning to worry about the potential of facing a repeat of the situation that saw Alexander Isak force through a move to Liverpool last summer.

There is little indication of Guimaraes taking that route at the moment, but the club hierarchy are still extremely wary to ensure that being held to ransom by wantaway stars doesn’t become a regular occurrence.
