Expert: Crystal Palace 'prepare for the worst' after Glasner latest
Crystal Palace remain hopeful that Oliver Glasner will stay beyond the end of his contract but have begun preparing for his departure.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Palace are assessing possible replacements, which is normal for a club in their position.
The boss’ current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and while Crystal Palace hope to extend Glasner‘s deal, they are ready for any eventuality.
This comes after reports linked Palace with Getafe manager Jose Bordalas, although despite the claims, the Austrian has yet to make a decision about his future.
Glasner recently confirmed that there has been no time to discuss a new contract given the packed schedule, with the Eagles facing a busy couple of months.

Crystal Palace planning for Oliver Glasner to walk away
Brown warned Football Insider on 1 December that Glasner could walk away from Crystal Palace when his contract expires due to the lack of ambition.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite-level managers including Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, insisted he does not believe Palace’s situation will be resolved until later in the season.
“It’s normal for clubs to be assessing their options,” he told Football Insider.
“Especially when you look at Palace, it would be reckless if they weren’t looking at who could replace Glasner, because there’s every chance he will leave.
“But the fact Palace are looking elsewhere doesn’t mean they expect him to go, from what I’m told they’re hopeful he will stay, but they have to prepare for the worst.
“Every top club will have to think, if the current manager leaves, where do we go next. Especially with such little time left on his contract.
“I wouldn’t expect the situation with Glasner to be resolved until later in the season, so there’s no need to panic just yet.”
How Crystal Palace can keep hold of Glasner
Football Insider revealed in September that Palace will do everything in their power to keep Glasner at Selhurst Park despite reports of tension behind the scenes.
Palace chairman Steve Parish confirmed that early stages of contract talks have taken place, but explained their visions need to be aligned to reach an agreement. [talkSPORT]
Since then, the manager has explained discussions have taken place about the future of the club both on and off the pitch to set them up to match his ambitions.

This comes after Football Insider revealed in September that Crystal Palace must match Glasner’s ambitions if they want him to agree a new contract.
However, there is a growing feeling that their attempts may be in vain given their historic lack of backing and the manager feeling the need to address the concerns publicly.
