Expert: Rangers set for unusual transfer developments before 2 Feb as Rohl greenlights exodus

Rangers may never have been busier in a January transfer window.

Andreas Skov Olsen is the marquee arrival of the month, on loan from Wolfsburg, with Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens signing permanently.

Rangers have been backed to possibly make three more signings, with exits likely needed to make that possible in the next two weeks.

It is said that Rangers could sell up to six players before 2 February, with Joe Rothwell a prime candidate to leave less than a year after arriving.

With Rohl flying at Ibrox, though, it is no surprise that he is being backed this month.

Rangers to buck the trend before transfer deadline

Dan Plumley believes that Rangers are still dealing with the summer fallout, with the hangover of that prompting even more activity both ways.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the football finance expert admits that winter windows tend to be quieter, with strange movements around Govan already.

“What you’ve probably got there if that happens in this window is the legacy and the impact of a failed managerial appointment in the summer,” Plumley said.

“We know how that ended with Russell Martin.

Danny Rohl has come in, and performances have increased, and he’s got plans for how he wants to take that club forward.

Rangers done deals

It is unusual for a window to be this busy, particularly in Scotland. If you look back to last January, Celtic spent £8m, and that was it; it was a really quiet window.

It tends to be quieter, and Scotland is no exception to that. If it does go that way for Rangers, we’re probably still looking at the hangover of the summer.”

Who has already left Rangers?

Findlay Curtis looks set to be next out of the door, with Kilmarnock already agreeing upon a loan deal for the rest of the season at Rugby Park.

Despite recent complaints at Pittodrie, Aberdeen have signed Lyall Cameron, also on loan for the rest of the season, as Rohl prioritises minutes for his fringe players.

On top of that, Oscar Cortes has moved to Argentina, with a permanent deal on the cards there.

With Rohl clearing the halls at Ibrox, hopefully, a couple of new faces could still show themselves ahead of a huge end to the Scottish Premiership season.
