Ex‑SPFL club chief explains why ex-PL manager could snub Celtic job in summer
Thomas Frank has been urged to reject the Celtic job and wait for a vacancy at a Premier League club.
That is the view of former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, as Frank has been linked with a return to management at Celtic.
Frank has been out of work since being sacked by Tottenham in February, but the Dane previously had a successful spell at Brentford.
Celtic are drawing up a list of candidates for when interim boss Martin O’Neill steps down at the end of the season, although any moves could be dependent on the Hoops’ European fate.
The Celtic hierarchy face pressure from supporters in their managerial search, with their appointment of Wilfried Nancy earlier in the season proving unsuccessful.

Thomas Frank would be making ‘wrong move’ joining Celtic
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks that Roberto Martinez could be a “better fit” for the Celtic job.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness would back Frank to find another Premier League job.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Is Frank a quality manager? Yes, he is. Is he probably a little bit too experienced for Celtic? I think he might be.
“He might stick out for another club outside of the SPFL because the league itself would be one of the reasons he would be thinking about not taking it. He is not necessarily a younger manager that wants to get in the shop window.
“Everybody knows what Thomas Frank is, and it would be wrong for him to go. He is a Premier League manager, and he could do well still in England. So I’d be surprised if he goes there.
“I thought Roberto Martinez was probably a slightly better fit, and Thomas Frank should be thinking twice about taking the job.”
Celtic preparing move for Motherwell sensation
Celtic are preparing for a big rebuild of their squad this summer, and the Hoops will focus on strengthening their attack.
O’Neill was again indebted to Kelechi Iheanacho after he scored the winning goal off the bench in a crucial 2-1 win over Hibernian last time out.
In a bid to bolster their ranks, sources have told Football Insider that Celtic should be able to sign Motherwell forward Tawanda Maswanhise this summer.
That is if Motherwell receive a sizeable transfer fee from Celtic for the 23-year-old, who has scored 17 Scottish Premiership goals this season.
Target: Elijah Just (Motherwell)
Long-term: Carter-Vickers out
League Pos: 2nd (61 pts)
