Former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry responds to Tottenham transfer offer
Former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry will reject interest from Tottenham with his focus on signing a new deal at Bayern Munich.
Spurs have been linked with a host of attacking options in the final stretch of the January transfer window having cashed in on Brennan Johnson at the start of the month, offloading him to Crystal Palace for £35million.
The inconsistent form of Matthys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani, linked with a return to Juventus, coupled with Dominic Solanke’s fitness issues have left Spurs in need of reinforcements as they seek to climb the Premier League table.
According to BILD, Tottenham have turned to Gnabry as a possible solution. The Germany international, no longer an automatic starter at the Allianz Arena, has entered the final six months of his contract and would likely be available for a knockdown fee this month.
But the 30-year-old has declined Tottenham’s interest and is now expected to sign a contract extension with the German champions.
Gnabry was regarded as a hugely promising talent at Arsenal after joining the club as a teenager in 2012. But after failing to break into Arsene Wenger’s side on a consistent basis, he returned to Germany in 2016.
After one season at Werder Bremen, he joined Bayern in 2017 where he has made 310 appearances, scoring 69 goals and providing 100 assists.

Tottenham meanwhile are believed to be one of eight teams to have registered interest in Raheem Sterling following his release from Chelsea.
Injuries have been a problem again for Spurs all season with James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall, Ben Davies and Richarlison currently unavailable but Thomas Frank insisted this week the club will not be forced into any rash moves.
He said: ‘We are in the market. We are doing everything we can to see if we can improve the squad. We’ve said that the whole time.
‘I think it’s, of course, when things are not exactly where we want them, and we have some injuries, you can be pushed and forced to take decisions you don’t really want to take if everything was on top.
‘So we need to be very, very smart and cool and calm and take good decisions to help us to optimise short-term success, but also secure long-term success.’
