Fulham make late move for striker Everton want to sign ahead of transfer deadline day - Journalist

Fulham were left heartbroken on Sunday afternoon as they lost 3-2 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Whites thought they had snatched a draw late in the game as Kevin equalised in the 92nd minute with an absolute screamer.

However, a late Benjamin Sesko winner broke the hearts of Fulham fans, and sent the Whites back down south empty handed.

It may have been a miserable afternoon for Fulham, but after the defeat, some exciting news broke for the Whites.

Indeed, as we head into transfer deadline day, Fulham are threatening to be among the biggest movers as they have re-opened talks with PSV about a potential move for Ricardo Pepi.

Fulham back in Ricardo Pepi talks

Fulham have already had two bids rejected for Ricardo Pepi in the January transfer window.

Everton have also been linked with Pepi, and there was a worry that the American could be headed to Merseyside instead of west London.

West Ham have also been linked with Pepi in the past, while Liverpool looked at Pepi before too.

However, late in the day, Fulham are back in for Pepi, as Peter Rutzler reports that talks have re-opened as we head into deadline day.

Fulham are currently short in the striking department, Rodrigo Muniz has been out of action for months, and while Raul Jimenez has been fantastic this season, at the age of 34, he can’t play every minute every week.

Pepi would add some fresh legs and impetus to this Fulham attack, and a deal could be done before the deadline.

Of course, Fulham have already added Oscar Bobb to their ranks this month too.

Fulham’s incredible American history

Pepi would be an exciting signing for Fulham, and this would also be a signing that is welcomed by a very special section of the Whites’ fanbase.

Indeed, over the past 20 years or so, Fulham have gained a rather sizeable following in America, owing to the amount of United States stars that have turned out for the Cottagers.

Tim Ream
Antonee Robinson
Brian McBride
Emerson Hyndman
Luca De La Torre
Carlos Bocanegra
Kasey Keller
Eddie Johnson

Fulham have a rich history of American talent, earning the nickname ‘FulhAmerica’ due to this affinity, and Pepi could well be the next American ace to become a star at Craven Cottage.

The Premier League is very much a global league at this point, and while Fulham may not be the biggest of clubs, they certainly have a foothold in the American market.
