'He's A Disaster' - Insider: Tottenham predicted to sack senior man as part of new overhaul

Johan Lange’s position as sporting director at Tottenham could be under threat as they eye a potential overhaul of their backroom staff after a disastrous season.

Regardless of whether they remain in the Premier League, many of the club’s chief decision-makers are facing scrutiny over their positions and contributions.

This comes as Spurs have begun searching for a second sporting director to become part of a restructure which would see a new appointment work alongside Lange.

However, former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that pressure on the 46-year-old is ramping up as a result of multiple ineffective decisions.

Lange was heavily involved in decisions to hire both Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor, both of which have led to their situation and Spurs now looking for a new manager.

Questions asked of Johan Lange at Tottenham

Football Insider warned that Lange could struggle in his role at Tottenham alongside Fabio Paratici, with scrutiny on both men after a number of questionable calls.

Lange was previously heavily criticised for his work at Wolves and Aston Villa, and doubts are lingering about his influence at Spurs, with questions now being asked.

“It’s difficult to understand why certain decisions are made at Spurs,” Brown told Football Insider.

“You’ve got the sporting director making decisions, mostly bad decisions in all honesty, and that’s a big part of the reason why they are where they are. It’s a shambles.

“I don’t think particularly highly of Lange, but don’t just take my word for it, the evidence is there.

“Wherever he’s been, it’s been a disaster. He was a disaster at Wolves, he was a disaster at Villa where I was at the time as well, and now he’s been a disaster at Tottenham.

“Brining in different manager and players, none of whom have any positive impact, now they’re in a relegation battle and fingers are being pointed.

“They have to start asking questions of the decision-makers, of which he is one, and if they’re trying to revamp their backroom team they might as well do it properly.

“They need to look at the people in these positions and they could make some big changes, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if that’s the route they take.”

Igor Tudor faces sack pressure at Tottenham

One of Lange’s most recent decisions as sporting director was to bring in Igor Tudor on an interim basis to guide the club away from the relegation zone.

Since his arrival, the boss has lost all three of his games in charge, most recently against Crystal Palace, and the club are now just one point above the drop zone.

As a result, Football Insider revealed on 6 March that Tottenham could be forced to sack Tudor in a late scramble to stay in the Premier League.

Should he prove unable to turn around their recent form in the coming weeks, they will be left with no choice but to search for a replacement.

Results on the pitch as well as some damning press conference quotes from the boss have seen patience grow thin, and he could soon be moved on.
