‘He’s finished’ – Man City fans erupt at Pep Guardiola amid ‘disgraceful’ scenes vs Bodo/Glimt

Man City supporters are ready for Pep Guardiola to throw in the towel after being thrashed 3-1 by Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.

Guardiola was tipped to leave Man City imminently after he oversaw a 2-0 defeat to Man United at the weekend, and now calls for his departure are growing louder at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite dominating possession in both games, the Citizens left both away games with very few positives, including a major mistake from Max Alleyne and Rodri getting sent off after 62 minutes.

At the Aspmyra Stadion on Tuesday, 20 January, Rayan Cherki‘s strike was nothing more than a consolation after a brace from Kasper Waarts Hogh and a Jens Petter Hauge goal.

Pep Guardiola has ‘lost his mind’ after Bodo/Glimt defeat

City were totally exposed in all three goals away from home, with very few defenders actually racing back to stop Bodo/Glimt’s attack, and all fingers of blame were pointed towards the manager.

With one supporter questioning whether Guardiola had “lost his mind,” another described the scenes as “disgraceful“. It is difficult to disagree with the disgruntled fans, especially those who travelled to the game.

A third fan has predicted an announcement of Guardiola leaving by “mutual consent,” and some may not be upset to see him go after the “disgraceful performance” in the Champions League.

Guardiola baffles with a weird experiment in the Champions League

Automatic qualification to the next round, by no means, is guaranteed. While they are sitting in fourth before the late fixtures, the Citizens are just one point above the play-off spots.

That is exactly why Guardiola needed to ensure his side secured all three points in what appeared to be a simple game against a team still waiting for their first Champions League win, or at least they were.

Instead, the manager raised eyebrows with his team selection, playing all three of Nico O’Reilly, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Rico Lewis, but the latter moving into the middle, rather than the natural midfielder.

This meant that Ait-Nouri was shoved into the right-back squad, an experiment that really didn’t pay off at all, and Lewis lost in the middle of the park.

Galatasaray are up next, and the Turkish giants will not be a walk in the park at all.
