‘I know Liam Rosenior really well and this is what he gave Chelsea’s players during win vs Brentford’
Liam Rosenior was at the centre of attention once again as Chelsea beat Brentford 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Joao Pedro put the Blues ahead midway through the first half, before a Cole Palmer penalty sealed the three points in the 76th minute, but it was not a game that passed without concern for the hosts.
Brentford created three big chances to Chelsea’s two during the game, but failed to make any of them count in what was a frustrating afternoon for Keith Andrews and his men.
The hosts’ latest victory at Stamford Bridge leaves them on the fringes of the European places, with a Champions League clash against Pathos next on the agenda.
Liam Rosenior sent notes out to Chelsea players during Brentford win
Rosenior has been heavily scrutinised since his arrival at Chelsea last week, and his actions caught the eye once again during Saturday’s victory.
The 41-year-old sent several notes out onto the pitch throughout the 90 minutes, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Andrey Santos both receiving specific guidance from the boss.
The new boss has kept the same 4-2-3-1 system as his predecessor Enzo Maresca during the early stages of his reign, but his new players will undoubtedly still be adapting to his methods and demands.
Wayne Rooney was keen to emphasise that during Saturday night’s edition of Match of the Day, when he pointed out the notes that had been sent onto the pitch during the win over Brentford.
The former Derby County chief had Rosenior as his assistant during their time together at Pride Park, and he insisted that Chelsea’s players will be receiving ample guidance from their new boss at the moment.
“I know Liam (Rosenior) really well and I know that he will be giving those players a lot of information,” Rooney said during his analysis of the game.

“We saw notes going out onto the pitch during the game, and the players will have a lot to learn in order to learn the system and how he wants to play.”
Rosenior could be set to bank big money from Chelsea in upcoming years
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that Rosenior’s contract at Chelsea will contain a liquidated damages clause.
That section of the agreement dictates what will happen should Todd Boehly and BlueCo decide that they want to sack him before the end of his six-year deal, something Borson feels is highly likely, given the typical length of managers’ tenures at the moment.
The financial expert suggested that Rosenior’s potential payout is likely to be compensation for either one year’s wages, or the same across an 18 month period.
The Premier League giants have gained a reputation for splashing the cash when it comes to both players and managers, and they will surely have little concern about that contractual obligation if they decide that Rosenior is not up to the task at any stage.
