Ibrox View: Motherwell star failed transfer audition for Rohl despite brilliant win over Rangers

Elijah Just failed to impress at Ibrox last Sunday, despite Motherwell’s 3-2 win over Rangers.

The Bears have been linked with Just ahead of the summer transfer window, as the winger has been in great form under Jens Berthel Askou this season.

However, Danny Rohl had a close-up view of the New Zealand international at Ibrox, and though Motherwell got the win, he didn’t perform for his side.

The 25-year-old usually plays at right wing but was shifted into the number nine role against Gers, which perhaps made him play worse.

However, Rangers’ scouts will have most likely been watching Just from the stands, and he may have lost in his attempts to attract the Bears.

The Bears have been credited with interest in the forward for a couple of months now, as they look to aid Rohl in the summer transfer window.

Just underperformed in almost every aspect of the game and was bullied by Rangers’ backline. That being said, it was his teammates who were able to do the damage at Ibroz.

Gers are looking to add quality on the wings this summer, as Andreas Skov Olsen may not stay beyond this season.

But the fact is, Just didn’t impress when it mattered, and that could prompt Rohl and Co. to look elsewhere.

One of the main reasons that the Bears may have gone for the attacker this summer is due to his low asking price, but that’s clear to see now.

Rangers could go for his team-mate instead

Tawanda Maswanhise has also been linked with a move from Motherwell to Rangers, and he also made the Team of the Year alongside Just.

The 23-year-old was much better than his team-mate, and offered pace and power down the right flank all game.

Unlike Just, Maswanhise showed ability with the ball at his feet, and his tendency to get shots on target, which is telling through the 10-goal difference between the pair.

However, Gers may face more of a battle to sign the Zimbabwe international, but he is someone who the 49ers may have been impressed with.

Either way, Andrew Cavenagh will be looking for forwards this summer, and his options from Motherwell may now be narrowed down.
