Ibrox View: Rangers star who hasn't started since January is final piece to Rohl's puzzle
Connor Barron can offer Danny Rohl crucial midfield stability ahead of Rangers‘ final push to win the Scottish Premiership.
The midfielder hasn’t started since January, when the Bears beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox, where he picked up his knee injury.
The setback forced the Scot to remain sidelined for over two months, as his first appearance after injury came off the bench in the 1-0 win over St. Mirren.
Rohl has been starting Nicolas Raskin and Tochi Chukwuani as a midfield pairing in recent weeks, but it feels like something is missing.
Barron was an unsung hero for Rangers when he was fit, and a return to the starting lineup could change everything.

How can Connor Barron change Rangers’ fortunes?
Rohl has shown that he is an adaptable manager, but at the minute his preference is a four-man backline, a two-man midfield and four in attack.
This has left the Gers to be exposed on the break, and that was highlighted in the most recent loss against Motherwell.

Barron could come back into Rangers’ starting lineup as a six, in the same role he featured in for the majority of last season, with Mohamed Diomande and Raskin in front of him.
Though Chukwuani has impressed at Ibrox, Barron has the experience of knowing the Scottish Premiership inside out, and that is what is needed right now.
Not only does the 23-year-old offer midfield balance, but he has line-breaking passes that not many other players bring to the table for Gers in the middle of the park.

Barron also possesses set-piece ability, which was seen when he picked up two assists in his last start against Aberdeen in January.
Though Rohl needs to go for it against Hearts on Monday, there needs to be an anchor in front of the backline, and Barron is his man.
Does Tochi Chukwuani deserve to be dropped?
Diomande made an impression when coming off the bench against Motherwell, picking up an assist, and looking like a threat in the final third.
Chukwuani has had his moments in front of goal, but realistically, Barron offers more creativity than him.
They both play a similar role to each other, but Rohl may have to decide between choosing one or the other for the final few games of the season.

Matches against Hearts and Celtic will make or break Rangers’ season, and it just feels like Barron knows his way around important showdown’s.
It may be worth taking Chukwuani out for Barron against Hearts, as he didn’t have his best game versus Motherwell last time, and was taken off at halftime.
