Insider: Man United set to 'welcome back' Marcus Rashford after Barcelona blow
Manchester United would be prepared to welcome Marcus Rashford back into their plans if Barcelona cannot get a permanent deal over the line.
The 28-year-old has thrived since leaving Old Trafford on loan last summer, but there are doubts about the Spanish giants’ financial power to pull of a permanent deal.
Meanwhile, Michael Carrick has publicly admitted he would like to add a winger to his squad, if he was made the permanent manager, and the England star would fit the bill.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rashford would fit perfectly in Carrick’s system if a return was possible.
However, there are doubts about the player’s willingness to return to his boyhood club as bridges have been burnt, and Man United may be forced to sell in the summer.

Could Marcus Rashford return to Man United?
Football Insider revealed last month that Rashford is keen to join Barcelona permanently and is not currently considering a return to Man United.
Should the Spanish club prove unable to agree a permanent move for him, he would be forced to return to Old Trafford, where his future would then be decided.
“It’s a difficult one with Marcus Rashford,” Brown told Football Insider.
“I think it’s clear some bridges have been burned, for whatever reason, between Rashford and Man United and so I’m not sure how keen he would be to come back.
“But if Barcelona can’t get a deal done because of their finances, he might have to.
“From a Man United perspective, I’m sure they’d like to welcome him back.
“If Rashford was at Man United now, he would be a fantastic option for that wide left position where he would have to compete with Matheus Cunha.
“Now, that can only be a positive. Having multiple top-quality options available to them.
“Just purely based on a footballing perspective, it would be great for Man United to have Marcus Rashford back and playing at his best.
“The problem is, he would have to be committed and ready to work like everybody else. I have my doubts about whether he would be.
“I think it’s clear he would like to stay at Barcelona, but it depends whether that is possible.”
What is the latest on Barcelona’s pursuit of Rashford?
Despite it looking likely that Rashford will join Barcelona at the end of the season, doubts have been cast amid disagreements over the payment structure.
Barcelona are making progress towards signing the England international permanently, but they want to pay the fee in three instalments over three years.
He joined on loan from Man United last summer, with the Catalan side holding the option to buy him for around £26million at the end of his loan spell.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Barcelona cold pay an increased fee for Rashford to convince United to split the payments.
That fee could be as little as £1.5million to restructure the deal, rather than paying the £26million up front which would prove difficult.
