John Wenham expects Tottenham to complete new first-team signing before the end of play tomorrow
Tottenham’s move for Liverpool star Andy Robertson could be back on, John Wenham has said.
Tottenham were showing significant interest in Robertson, but a deal seemed to be off after several sources linked with the Reds nixed the idea.
The Anfield side decided not to proceed with the £5million move, due to depleted resources in the defensive areas.
However, Thomas Frank may get his man sooner rather than later.
Why Robertson to Tottenham may still be on
Wenham believes that the Scotland captain could still make the switch to North London before the 2 February deadline.
He thinks it may even happen before the end of January, which would mean that Robertson would be signed before the end of play on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “I still think the Andy Robertson deal will happen.
“Spurs have made it known that they were going to move for the player in the summer, which tells me that Liverpool were not going to renew his contract.

“For me, it seems like waiting for Roma to line-up this alternative left-back, which would allow the Greek [Tsimikas] to return to Liverpool, then I think Robertson will be granted that move to Tottenham.
“I still think it will happen this month, I honestly do.”
Why do Tottenham want Robertson?
Robertson is far from the swashbuckling left-back who starred for Jurgen Klopp’s great Reds teams over the years, as his pace and ability has decreased with age.
However, he still brings a lot, his passion, leadership and determination would go a long way to helping Frank to mould his squad into the right characters that he needs to take the club forward.
His personality could rub off on several of his new teammates, and his experience would be invaluable, as Spurs look to redeem the Premier League campaign, and go as far as they can in the Champions League.
For such a cheap fee, it is a no-brainer to bring the two-time league champion and the three-time Champions League finalist (one win) to N17.
Whether Wenham is right remains to be seen, but is does not seem beyond the realm of possibility that the Lilywhites could bring the 31-year-old in before the deadline.
