Journalist speculates Grealish replacement at Everton amid injury latest
Everton have been left in a tricky situation after Jack Grealish picked up an injury.
Grealish is set to miss months for Everton after suffering a stress fracture in his foot, with a 12-week recovery time expected for the Englishman.
This marks a sizable blow for David Moyes after Grealish’s highly influential season at Everton to this point.
Everton will soon welcome Iliman Ndiaye back from AFCON, but even with that boost, the Toffees will still be light in attacking areas.
That may point towards a replacement signing in January to cover Grealish, with all options being considered at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Will Everton make a January signing to replace Jack Grealish?
Everton may still sign Grealish permanently in the summer and take up their buy option with Manchester City.
That won’t help them in the short term, with the Blues set to be without one of their best players for potentially the rest of the season.
The Englishman has been a constant attacking threat under Moyes, so losing his goal involvements from the side will be massive.

That could prompt the Toffees into bringing a new attacking option before the end of the January transfer window to help see out the campaign.
A winter deal for a new forward could spark a ripple effect for Everton and change all their transfer plans in the summer.
Gavin Buckland, a contributor to the Liverpool Echo, has suggested that he would swerve away from a winter alternative to Grealish and would hold out until the summer.
He said: “As for transfers, what the club wants and what is available to them is completely different things. They’ll have targets for the summer. Personally speaking, I’d keep the powder dry until the summer.
“I wouldn’t bring anyone in now, just on the basis of Jack’s injury. Keep the transfer plans for the summer in place, because they will change if we get someone in January.“
Everton won’t find better than Grealish in January
Buckland is spot on with his view, because a late replacement this winter would likely have a dramatic impact on the future deals in L4.
The Toffees are much better off sticking to their guns as they continue to eye a new striker and full-back option in January.
Going for these targets makes more sense than a direct Grealish alternative, especially if the Man City man is to sign permanently in the summer.
He has been a true star at the Hill Dickinson this season, so any replacement will have a lot to live up to and is unlikely to hit the same heights as the Englishman.
It will be interesting to see what Everton do in the last weeks of the transfer window, but would be bold to replace the loanee at this stage.
