Leeds vs Arsenal: Predicted lineup today and confirmed team news

Arsenal will have Jurrien Timber and William Saliba available for their Premier League clash with Leeds United this afternoon.

After that draining defeat to Manchester United last weekend, both defenders missed the Champions League dead rubber against Kairat on Wednesday having sat out of training the previous day.

Mikel Arteta confirmed both men were carrying minor knocks but after a bit of midweek rest, both are expected to reclaim their places in the starting XI this afternoon.

The Arsenal boss was able to make wholesale changes to his side on Wednesday night, changing his entire starting XI.

Riccardo Calafiori got his first minutes of the year under his belt having recovered from injury, playing the first-half before being replaced by Piero Hincapie.

The Italy international could get his first start since before Christmas today.

Gabriel Jesus was given the nod against United last week and could be Arteta’s first choice option up top going forward with Gyokeres among those drafted in on Wednesday night.

That game also marked Kai Havertz’s first start of the season with the German scoring after 15 minutes.

While Arteta will be delighted to have him back, another start in the space of the week is unlikely after such a lengthy layoff.

After persistent injury problems in the first-half of the campaign, Arteta has a fully fit squad to choose from with the exception of Max Dowman who is recovering from an ankle injury.

Arsenal XI to face Leeds – Metro prediction

If deemed fit enough to start twice in a week, Calafiori may be the only player from Wednesday night to keep his place in the side.

A goal and an assist for Gyokeres will have helped his cause but the sight of Jesus getting (almost) the whole night off after coming off the bench on 77 minutes might suggest he will be in the starting XI today.

Martin Odegaard was hooked before the hour mark against United and will be hoping to deliver a better performance at Elland Road.
