'Magnificent' - BBC Sportscene pundit loves what exit-linked Rangers player did vs Porto
Rangers took an early lead against Porto in the Europa League through Djeidi Gassama on Thursday.
Danny Rohl’s team have travelled to the Estadio do Dragao on 29 January, with Max Aarons, Mohamed Diomande, Findlay Curtis, Gassama and Youssef Chermiti returning to the starting lineup.
The likes of Andreas Skov Olsen are unavailable in the Europa League, with the Light Blues unable to register their winter signings to their squad before the next phase of the competition.
The former Sheffield Wednesday star was picked out at the back post and was able to beat Diogo Costa with his header, but another player caught the attention in the build-up to the strike.
Findlay Curtis pivotal as Djeidi Gassama scored in Porto vs Rangers
Billy Dodds had to give Findlay Curtis his props and loved what he did for setting up Gassama’s goal in the opening 45 minutes at the Estadio do Dragao.
The former Scotland international was blown away by the 19-year-old’s delivery into the box to set up his teammate in the sixth minute.
Unfortunately, the Light Blues were unable to hold on to their lead for long, with Rodrigo Mora beating Jack Butland in the 27th minute to level the tie, and Francisco Moura’s strike and Emmanuel Fernandez’s own goal made it 3-1 going into the break.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound on 29 January, Dodds said, “I have to give praise to young Curtis. The ball in was absolutely magnificent. When he takes it, he shows composure, gets it out of his feet, and just hangs it up to that far post. He’s only got Gassama to pick out, and once he does that, that is quality the way he just shapes it into him.”

Rohl has no chance of qualifying further in the Europa League, but a win against the 30-time Portuguese league winner will be good for the Glaswegian outfit’s confidence.
The German manager has all eyes on closing the gap with Hearts in the William Hill Premiership, and their recent form certainly suggests they can do so.
Findlay Curtis gives Danny Rohl surprise Ibrox headache
Curtis has been linked with a loan move to Kilmarnock, with Neil McCann interested in taking the young forward to East Ayrshire.
The Scotsman had a strong start to the season, scoring some crucial goals under Russell Martin, but has found game time hard to come by in recent months at Ibrox.
Curtis was exceptional playing on the right-wing against Annan Athletic in the 5-0 Scottish Gas Scottish Cup win, and he’s making a case to be involved in the Light Blues’ title charge.
However, the Glaswegian outfit have signed Skov Olsen from Wolfsburg, and it will be interesting to see what Rohl decides to do before the 2 February deadline.
