‘Magnificent’ Rangers star hailed for ‘masterclass’ display in demolition job vs Kilmarnock

Rangers cruised to a simple victory over 10-man Kilmarnock on Wednesday as a superb second-half performance saw them win 5-1 at Ibrox.

After a lacklustre first period, which saw the Gers only find the net once from the penalty spot thanks to James Tavernier, they came out all guns blazing after half-time.

Goals from Bojan Miovski, Andreas Skov Olsen, Oliver Antman and Mikey Moore ensured a simple victory for Danny Roh’s side as they closed the gap on Hearts at the summit to three points.

While players such as Thelo Aasgaard were poor at Ibrox, one of the best players on the pitch was Moore, who received a high amount of praise from former Gers star Rory Loy.

Rory Loy: Mikey Moore was sensational vs Kilmarnock

Moore has been sensational for Rangers since Danny Rohl’s arrival at Ibrox.

The Tottenham loanee has originally struggled for the Gers but has easily been one of their best players in recent months.

This was once again on show against Kilmarnock, as the winger picked up a goal and an assist, as Rangers took one step closer to catching Hearts at the summit.

When analysing his first-half performance on BBC Sportsound, Loy was quick to heap praise on Moore for his excellent movement off the ball.

He said: “Mikey Moore’s movement so far has been nothing short of sensational. Two or three passes before he gets the ball, defenders don’t know where he is.

“It’s been a masterclass in how to receive the ball in tight areas.”

On top of this, after he found the net he said: “He deserves that. Mikey Moore has been the best player on the pitch.”

How good was Moore against Kilmarnock?

Moore’s performance against Killie was certainly an eye-catching one.

According to Fotmob on 4 February, he created the most chances in the match at five, completed four successful dribbles, had four touches in the opposition’s box and fired two shots at goal.

The winger’s display was simply one that Killie could not handle, and Moore was rewarded at the end with a deserved goal to complete the performance.

With Rangers eyeing the Scottish Premiership title, Moore could well be the difference-maker going into the second half of the campaign if he can keep this up.

Now, the task for Rohl is to ensure that this can be replicated against better opposition, especially with their crunch match against Hearts just around the corner.

If he can achieve this, the title should be Rangers’ come the end of May, with Moore proving to be one of the most dangerous players in the Scottish Premiership at the moment.
