Man United officials seek Everton advice amid £250m expectation - report

Everton‘s recent financial growth has seen officials from Manchester United seek inspiration.

The Friedkin Group have overseen a huge turnaround in fortunes on Merseyside, and the 20-time Premier League champions have taken notice.

A report from the Daily Mail on 2 April claims that the Blues are expecting their turnover to rise to £250million for their first year at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It states that the Red Devils’ officials have already been in contact to ask for advice after the success the Blues have had in their new home, after striking deals with Pepsi and Budweiser.

Everton seem to be on an upward trajectory after moving home, and the Old Trafford club are clearly looking to follow in their footsteps.

What else are Everton planning?

Everton are planning for further developments to truly take their new ground to the next level.

The report states that they are undertaking a process of ‘Evertonisation’, including considering adding statues of the likes of Dixie Dean and Howard Kendall.

It claims that they want to make sweeping changes to the fan plaza, which would turn it into a 15,000-capacity outdoor venue, and acquire the neighbouring Nelson Dock to add further hospitality and leisure opportunities.

They are also looking to host more concerts than the six that are currently allowed, with further sporting events eyed after the success of the Scotland vs Ivory Coast friendly.

Why Everton cannot solely focus on off-pitch innovation

The fact that the Manchester-based club are looking towards the Blues as an example is a positive sign.

Italian giants AC Milan have also looked at the new stadium as inspiration for their new ground, when the famous San Siro is demolished.

That all points to success off the pitch for the Toffees, but they must make sure that on-pitch performances match their ambition in the boardroom and in terms of facilities.

There is no point being the leader for off-pitch innovation if the results of the team are not reflecting the increased revenue.

The new ownership have put the Merseyside club in a brilliant position, now they must capitalise on it and end their long and painful trophy drought, which dates back to the 1995 FA Cup win.
