Manchester United warned not to sign £55m Liverpool star: ‘It would never work’
Manchester United have been advised not to sign Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister ‘in a million years’.
The Red Devils were linked with a shock move for Mac Allister last week as they prepare for this summer’s transfer window.
United are expected to sign at least one midfielder this summer after targeting a player in that position on the pitch last summer.
The Old Trafford squad are already preparing for the departure of Casemiro, who announced last month that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Manchester United are admirers of Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.
It was reported last week that the Red Devils were also interested in Mac Allister, who has been linked with a move away from Anfield ahead of the summer transfer window.
Mac Allister has made over 100 appearances for Liverpool since his £55m move from Brighton in 2023, helping the Reds win the Premier League and EFL Cup.

The 27-year-old, a World Cup winner with Argentina, has been less effective this season and is still searching for his first Premier League goal.
Ex-Manchester United defender Paul Parker was surprised by speculation linking Mac Allister with a move to Old Trafford and says it ‘would never work’.
Asked about United’s reported interest in the Liverpool star, Parker told Pariurix: ‘My first thought is just no, no, no. Not in a million years.
Alexis Mac Allister's dad on Man Utd links
Asked about these rumours, Mac Allister’s dad, Carlos, said: ‘Alexis is only thinking about Liverpool at the moment.
‘We are waiting for an offer to renew his contract. We will see what the club’s plan is.’
Pressed on whether his son could be coaxed away should an extension not be agreed, he replied: ‘We’ll wait and see what happens with the renewal. That’s all.’
‘I haven’t seen enough reasons why they would get Mac Allister. The club needs a midfielder, maybe even two, but would he be one of those two? I think the answer would be no.
‘It would be a big no for me, and I am 100 per cent sure that he doesn’t even want it to happen either because of where he is playing.
‘He has never said he wants to play for Manchester United. No one would ever be that silly to say that. It would never work out, not in a million years.’
Mac Allister would have hoped for more Premier League joy this season but Liverpool’s title defence is already over, with Arne Slot’s side just sixth in the table.
The Reds will hope to keep the pressure on top-four rivals Manchester United and Chelsea on Sunday when they face relegation-battlers Nottingham Forest.
Mac Allister helped Liverpool beat Brighton 3-0 in the FA Cup last time out as the defending Premier League champions moved into the fifth round where they will face Wolves.
FA Cup holders Crystal Palace are already out but Liverpool will still have to beat the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City to win a ninth FA Cup.
