McKenna to reject Crystal Palace interest and 'stay' at Ipswich - expert
Crystal Palace’s search for a new manager has faced one blow as Kieran McKenna is expected to stay at Ipswich Town.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, after McKenna was linked with the Crystal Palace job.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is to step down at the end of the season, and the Eagles are searching for his successor.
McKenna led Ipswich back to the Premier League at the first time of asking this season, and the 39-year-old has been widely praised for the job he has done at Portman Road.
Whilst Ipswich would have no desire to lose McKenna, Crystal Palace would hope to lure him to Selhurst Park with the possibility of more European football next season, if they win the Conference League.
Kieran McKenna ‘staying at Ipswich’ amid Crystal Palace links
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – is adamant that McKenna will not be leaving Ipswich this summer.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks McKenna’s agent may have “flirted” with the idea of joining Crystal Palace.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think Kieran’s staying at Ipswich, no question at all.
“His agent may have just flirted with the Palace situation, as you would do as an agent, to try and put something out in the media. But no, he’s staying at Ipswich, and he’s now there. He’s a fixture.
“He’s doing well. He understands the club. He knows what he’s working with, gets on well with the owners and he’s got resources. So no, he will be going nowhere.”
Crystal Palace tipped to make Marco Silva approach
With Chelsea also in pursuit of Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, a new name has emerged on Crystal Palace’s shortlist for their managerial vacancy.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace could target Fulham boss Marco Silva.
Silva has not declared whether he will stay at Fulham beyond this season, as the 48-year-old’s contract at Craven Cottage expires in the summer.
With Silva left frustrated at Fulham’s transfer business last summer, and with the Cottagers a settled mid-table side, the Portuguese boss may want to move to a club with more ambition and greater resources.
