Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro named in ‘over-entitled’ Tottenham group that ignore Igor Tudor

Igor Tudor is struggling at Tottenham Hotspur, and he could already be losing the dressing room.

Spurs are now staring down the prospect of Premier League relegation after their most recent loss against Crystal Palace on Thursday.

Tudor was brought to the club to help steady the ship, but as seen in his first three games in charge, that’s not been the case.

Tottenham’s relegation chances are real, and they need all their top players fighting, but are Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro already on the beach?

Alex Crook suggests whole Tottenham dressing room won’t listen to Igor Tudor

Van de Ven’s red card against Crystal Palace was the worst possible thing that could have happened to Tudor at that moment. Everything went downhill in the game from there, as the Croatian then watched his side concede three goals in a matter of minutes.

But the Dutch centre-back has been one of Spurs’ top performers this season, so to see his moment of carelessness was a first.

Pedro Porro, on the other hand, is someone that Tottenham fans know has a short fuse, and they need their Spaniard to hit his top form before the end of the season – but that might not happen now.

While speaking live on talkSPORT, Alex Crook, who has inside knowledge on the Lilywhites, didn’t hold back on a full-blown rant, including a telling off for van de Ven and Porro.

Crook said: “It’s a dressing room full of over-entitled players whose ego outweighs their football ability. It was a reckless, brainless decision [red card] from van de Ven. He’s not the first and won’t be the last Tottenham captain to let them down this season.

“You’ve got Porro with his usual theatrics, slapping the dugout after being taken off. They made a terrible appointment in Tudor – it was never going to work out, they’re [Spurs players] not going to listen to him.”

So the warning signs could be even larger than first thought, and Spurs fans will be wondering if Premier League survival is really going to be possible.

Igor Tudor may need to take Champions League risk

Next up for the Lilywhites is their first leg tie against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, which gives Tudor a chance to rotate his team.

Spurs’ Champions League run has just about been the only thing that supporters have held on to this season, as without it, there would be no reason to be positive at all in N17.

But the answer over a question on which is more important, the league or European success, is surely evident at this point.

In a reverse from last season, Tudor may need to save his players from a Champions League battle now that the risk of relegation is too big.

It’s not ideal, but it may be necessary for Spurs to retain their Premier League status.
