Mikey Moore contract situation: Expiry date, Tottenham exit stance, and how Rangers can sign him

Rangers want to bring Mikey Moore back permanently after his impressive loan spell at Ibrox.

He is understood to be keen on staying in Scotland, and talks have reportedly been held over a pre-agreement with Tottenham, with the Premier League outfit wanting a hefty sell-on fee and first refusal on a future transfer.

The Spurs loanee has notched five goals and two assists, but his impact in Govan goes much deeper than that, as shown by the Sofascore graphic below.

Moore has been one of Rangers’ brightest sparks and a key player in the revival under Danny Rohl’s leadership.

🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.

What is Moore’s contract situation at Tottenham?

Rangers loanee Moore signed a new contract with his parent club in August 2025 after he had joined the Gers, committing his future to his boyhood club.

Spurs announced that it was a long-term deal, but did not announce the specific date by which the deal expires.

However, it is expected to be a maximum of five years per FIFA rules, which would mean that it does not run out until June 2030.

What is Tottenham’s stance on Moore exit?

Tottenham are understood to want to keep Moore and have no plans of selling one of their prized academy assets, who has been at the club since the age of seven.

Spurs youth expert John Wenham, who runs the popular Lilywhite Rose account on X, told Ibrox News that he cannot see a scenario where the North London side allows him to leave permanently.

He said: “I’m sure while Rangers would love to make it permanent, and all I am hearing is Mikey has absolutely loved that loan spell, I don’t see Tottenham authorising a permanent exit at all.”

How can Rangers sign Moore?

There is a chance that the Govan side could still sign Moore, but it would only be on a loan deal, rather than a permanent one.

Wenham believes that if the Bears win the Scottish Premiership and qualify for the Champions League, then there is a possibility that the N17 outfit will sanction another loan for next season.

That is surely an encouraging update for Rohl’s side, as he is a prominent source when it comes to all things academy-related at Hotspur Way.

Now, the Light Blues just have to get the job done and convince his parent club that a return to Auchenhowie is the best move for the youngster, rather than returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
