Mikey Moore: Tottenham alarm bells to ring as Danny Rohl wants to keep Rangers loanee

Tottenham Hotspur may struggle to keep hold of Mikey Moore after making a splash during his Rangers loan spell this season.

Despite a slow start to life at Ibrox, the 18-year-old winger now has six goals and two assists in 26 Scottish Premiership appearances, quickly winning the love of the supporters.

He is only on loan in Scotland until the end of the 2025-26 campaign, though, with many clubs keeping tabs on the forward’s development away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham’s transfer plans remain up in the air until the summer, with Igor Tudor only in on an interim basis, and that could have further impact on Moore’s future in North London.

Danny Rohl has opened talks over permanent Mikey Moore deal

He’s made an incredible difference to the Gers’ forward line this season, and could yet have more of an impact as Danny Rohl’s side remain in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

The manager has certainly taken a liking to him, and the former Sheffield Wednesday boss has now made his intentions clear over a potential permanent deal for the youngster ahead of the summer.

Speaking after the game, he said, “I think conversations are always there (regarding Moore). We know when Mikey performs like this, he enjoys playing for Rangers.

“The fans love him, I like him, and he’s a key player. There’s a lot of good things, where we could go again together. But he’s still not our player, so let’s work in that direction.”

What do we know about Moore’s future at Ibrox?

Rangers fans are unlikely to want to hear this.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Keith Wyness said that Rangers have “no chance” of signing Moore permanently this summer, but did admit that another loan deal would be “huge”.

While it is not quite the type of transfer that many would want, Spurs are not going to part ways with their exciting academy product very easily.

Given the lack of money being spent in the Scottish Premiership, it is highly unlikely that the Gers would be able to afford his price tag, even if they really wanted to.

It does sound as though Rohl would be willing to put a lot on the line to secure his signature, however. It’s certainly one for both sets of supporters to keep an eye on ahead of the summer.
