Morgan Gibbs-White: Everything Vitor Pereira said ahead of Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest

Morgan Gibbs-White suffered an injury against Chelsea that could have ruled him out of Nottingham Forest‘s crucial Europa League tie.

The 26-year-old was only on the pitch for 20 minutes after replacing Igor Jesus at the half-time break, when he was forced off following a huge collision with Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez.

On social media, Gibbs-White revealed the extent of the damage, which was a lot of stitches across the front of his face, though his involvement in the Europa League semi-final second leg was not ruled out.

Forest could already be without Murillo ahead of the clash on Thursday, 7 May, and Vitor Pereira has spoken to the press ahead of the Reds’ season-defining game at Villa Park.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, John Victory and Nicolo Savona have all been ruled out for the season, and supporters are concerned about who could be joining them on the sidelines for the remaining games.

There has been a lot of speculation over whether Gibbs-White will recover in time for the semi-final second leg, and Pereira has been rather vague about the playmaker.

Speaking in his press conference on Wednesday, 6 May, Pereira said: “We’ll see tomorrow if he is able to play or not. It is a decision between the player and the medical department.

Unai Emery also sweating over injuries at Villa Park

Villa have a much higher win rate with Amadou Onana in the team, and given that the Belgian is a doubt for the Europa League tie, Unai Emery will be crossing everything to have him fit in time.

Of course, Boubacar Kamara and Alysson are both set to miss the game, having been sidelined earlier in the campaign, but no new injury concerns seem to have appeared from the Tottenham defeat.

The biggest hit from the 2-1 loss to Spurs would have been to Villa’s confidence, though, with the Villans now on a three-game losing streak heading into the crucial European clash.

Supporters will be expecting much more from the likes of Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and John McGinn, who was rested as a precaution against the Lilywhites.
