'Moyes is a fan' - Local journo teases summer Everton move for serious Championship baller

Abdul Fatawu is in a Championship relegation fight with Leicester City, and Everton may have another opportunity to strike a transfer agreement with the winger this summer.

The Foxes are currently 23rd in England’s second tier, only in front of Sheffield Wednesday, who themselves are on minus six points.

Fatawu chose to stay at Leicester this summer despite interest from several Premier League clubs, including the Toffees, as there may be a chance of a cut-price deal, should the Foxes get relegated to League One.

David Moyes will likely be on the lookout for reinforcements in attacking areas in the summer window, and none may come as a better option than the Ghanaian.

Everton will need to sign a winger should Jack Grealish not return to Hill Dickinson Stadium, and Fatawu sounds like someone who Moyes still has his eyes on.

David Moyes remains keen on Abdul Fatawu

Fatawu was on Everton’s radar in the summer, but the right-wing position was instead filled by Tyler Dibling after the latter completed a £40million switch from Southampton.

The Blues were, however, too far away from what Leicester valued their forward at in August, but the prospect of relegation would surely mean they’d have to sell him for less than first imagined.

Abdul Fatawu’s record at Leicester City this season

According to the Liverpool Echo‘s Joe Thomas, “Moyes is a fan” of the 22-year-old, and claims it is now tough to see him staying at the King Power Stadium beyond this summer.

Fatawu has been described as one of Moyes’ “prime right-wing targets” from last summer, and the fact that his side could drop to League One in a few months may only be good news for the Toffees.

The forward has plenty of time to develop and has already proved himself as a useful player in the Premier League.

Who could Fatawu replace at Everton?

Everton will most likely have some money coming their way if they are to finally sell Dwight McNeil this summer, after his proposed £20m move to Crystal Palace broke down on deadline day.

Grealish poses an important question, because his potential return to the Hill Dickinson could complicate multiple scenarios, due to his high wages and other fees that would be required to pay for his services.

Regardless, Fatawu’s situation at Leicester is one that the Friedkin Group should, and could, be monitoring heading into the window.

If they were to pull off his signing, it would almost certainly mean Tyrique George’s permanent option to buy would not be triggered; likewise, the door would probably be shown for McNeil.

But lots of twists and turns remain with eight games left in the season.
