‘Obsessed’ – Celtic fans fire back at Danny Rohl after ‘arrogant’ claim

Celtic fans have been left unimpressed with Danny Rohl once again after his press conference ahead of the Old Firm derby.

The two sides are set to clash again at Ibrox on Sunday, this time in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Last weekend, Rangers let a two-goal lead slip, with the Hoops staging a remarkable comeback.

Now, Rohl believes a repeat of this first-half display will keep the travelling supporters “quiet”, which has caused outrage ahead of the mouthwatering Celtic showdown.

Celtic fans accuse Danny Rohl of being obsessed

This is the second time in a week that Rohl has riled up the Celtic supporters.

Ahead of last weekend’s derby, the Rangers manager was quick to question Martin O’Neill’s tactics against Stuttgart while also hitting back at Luke McCowan’s comments.

Now, ahead of the Scottish Cup tie, Rohl could not resist bringing up Celtic again as he made a comment about the travelling fans.

He said: “If we play like the 50 minutes that we did – then the 7,500 will also be quiet”.

As a result, Celtic’s fans were quick to jump on this comment on X, with many accusing the manager of being “obsessed” with the Old Firm club ahead of the derby.

Could a defeat see fans turn on Danny Rohl?

Despite his solid start, Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider that Rohl’s tactics will be questioned after their recent draw with Celtic.

The Gers are now all but out of the title race, being six points behind Heart of Midlothian, and are at risk of not qualifying for the Champions League.

As a result, if Celtic win the Old Firm on Sunday and knock Rangers out of the Scottish Cup, it will increase pressure on Rohl massively.

While the Gers might not have a brilliant side, it is still arguably the best in the division, yet they have been scraping past numerous poor sides.

Therefore, if Celtic can pull off a memorable victory, they could help cause the downfall of Rohl’s reign.

This would be some feat, given the money they spent in January, with the Hoops not spending a penny.

However, it remains to be seen if Celtic can pull a victory off, especially given the fact that they were so poor in the first half last weekend.
