Pep Guardiola ready to destroy another Man City gem’s career as transfer agreement reached

Pep Guardiola is not messing around in January as Man City continue in their difficult Premier League title battle against Arsenal.

Antoine Semenyo has already hit the ground running at the Etihad, joining the likes of Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki in the final third, with Erling Haaland needing more support.

The Norwegian star already has 29 goals across all competitions, so scoring is hardly the problem for the Citizens, with the backline presenting as the biggest obstacle in winning the league title this season.

Arsenal are still favourites for the Premier League title, moving six points ahead following their goalless draw against Liverpool, already keeping 10 clean sheets in total.

Guardiola’s side have kept nine clean sheets, only narrowly being beaten by the Gunners, but the defensive third remains a problem for the Citizens.

Man City make a move for Marc Guehi

Ruben Dias is already sidelined for as many as 11 games, joining Josko Gvardiol and John Stones on the treatment table, leaving Abdukodir Khusanov and Max Alleyne as the only fit centre-backs.

The duo have hardly faltered in the last two games, though, overseeing a 10-1 win over Exeter City in the FA Cup before securing a two-goal advantage against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.

Nevertheless, there were signs of weakness in those games, especially during the 1-1 draw with Brighton, when both senior centre-backs were taken off with injuries.

As a fix, Man City are edging closer to a deal for Marc Guehi, who was expected to leave Crystal Palace next summer on a free transfer, with a £20million fee being touted, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Max Alleyne set for disappointment at the Etihad

While all City fans are incredibly excited by the deal, given his talent, experience, and high number of England caps, it is not good news for everyone involved at the Etihad.

Alleyne has been almost faultless since returning from his loan spell at Watford, but his time in the side could come to a very quick end, with Guehi not going to feature against Sunderland at the weekend.

He could join a list of Romeo Lavia, Jadon Sancho, Brahim Diaz, Liam Delap, and Shea Charles, all of whom failed at the Etihad, after Guardiola refused to give them a proper chance in the first-team set-up.

Although the 20-year-old has made a positive impact in the backline, it is only a matter of time before the more experienced England international shuns him to the bench upon his arrival.
