Pundit says Rangers should sign 8-goal striker who may cost big money

Rangers have been told to sign Falkirk striker Barney Stewart in the upcoming transfer window.

Kris Boyd has told the Gers to try and get the 21-year-old, who has scored eight goals in 14 appearances in all competitions for the Bairns this season, but he could cost a significant sum, with other teams surely keeping an eye on him.

The former Scotland international also wants to see the centre-forward in Steve Clarke’s 2026 World Cup squad due to his finishing ability.

Andrew Cavenagh backed Danny Rohl in the winter transfer window, but the Glaswegian outfit’s American owners will surely have to go into the market and strengthen the squad in the summer.

🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.

Barney Stewart stats in William Hill Premiership make him attractive Rangers target

Stewart signed for Falkirk in 2024 and spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at Dunfermline Athletic.

The Bairns recalled the young striker in January, and since then, he has been impressive in the William Hill Premiership, scoring six goals with a conversion rate of 23 per cent, providing two assists and creating two big chances, as per Sofascore.

Having started 11 league matches for John McGlynn this season, the centre-forward has recorded 1.2 shots on target per game and can surely improve after missing five big chances.

The 21-year-old, who stands at 188cm tall, has also won 50 per cent of his total duels and recovers the ball on average two times per game.

A new striker is something that may need to be in the Glaswegian outfit’s thoughts again in the coming months, despite a significant investment over the last two transfer windows.

Speaking on Go Ballistic on 16 March, Boyd said, “And I’ll say it again, if I’m Rangers, I would go and try and sign him. And I’ve said that because I would love to see him in a Rangers jersey. But there’ll be other ones out there sniffing about him, and Falkirk will command big money because right now I don’t see anybody at that level of finding themselves free in the box, never under pressure, composed, calm finishing.”

Danny Rohl to sacrifice number nine at Ibrox for new transfer

Rohl doesn’t seem to trust Bojan Miovski, with the North Macedonia international failing to start in any of the last five league matches.

Rangers have relied on Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi up top in recent games, but their partnership has been underwhelming on most occasions.

The German manager is still looking for a striker to shoulder the goalscoring burden at the Govan side, with the current options failing to live up to expectations.

If the Glaswegian outfit were to sign a new number nine, Miovski may have to make way at Ibrox.
